Childhood Sexual Abuse- The Body Keeps The Score.

Ten Topics from the Pesso Boyden framework for  trauma-informed therapeutic healing.

Relationships Sussex (formerly Relate West Sussex), has teamed up with Juliet Grayson for a powerful introduction to Pesso Boyden System of Psychotherapy (PBSP)—a body based approach to healing childhood sexual abuse.

This insightful session is scheduled for October 27th 10:00 AM-2.00 PM.

Childhood Sexual Abuse: The Body Keeps The Score

4 hour Online CPD for Counsellors & Therapists

Because the impact of trauma is held in the body - as well as the mind - the healing of child sexual abuse happens most effectively when both mind and body are involved.

Juliet Grayson will be introducing you to the body-based therapy called Pesso Boyden System of Psychotherapy (PBSP) – and talking you through how this can be used for people who have experienced child sexual abuse.

Juliet will share a PBSP model: the 10 themes that commonly arise when working with people who were sexually abused as children. Juliet will be showing a few short films, which are extracts of client sessions, to give a powerful illustration of how PBSP works with the body.

Whilst recognising that the majority of people attending this talk will not be trained PBSP therapists, Juliet hopes to alert them to some of the more obscure needs of clients who are dealing with these issues.

Childhood Abuse, Relational Trauma & Resilience Building

Understanding The Impact of Childhood Abuse- 3 Hour Online CPD for Counsellors & Therapists

On  Monday 19th January | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM , you can join CLEAR – Emotional Trauma and Therapy Specialists – for a 3-hour CPD session exploring the lasting impact of childhood abuse and relational trauma on adults (with an emphasis on sexual abuse), and practical ways to support clients in therapy.

This workshop will cover:

  • Childhood Abuse & Relational Trauma: Understanding how early relational trauma can affect adult relationships and mental health.
  • Therapeutic Impact: Recognising how relational trauma may show up within the therapeutic relationship.
  • Transference & Counter-transference: Exploring these dynamics and their significance in therapy.
  • Building Resilience: Using Polyvagal Theory and practical exercises from Deb Dana to support clients’ nervous system regulation.

We are delighted to welcome Caroline Eshghi, who will share her lived experience of relational trauma, providing invaluable insights into the client perspective. Caroline was subjected to years of "terror" by her mother during the 1970s and 80s. Now she is campaigning for a change in the law around sentencing guidelines for historical child abuse cases.

Who Should Attend:
Therapists, counsellors, and those in training, seeking a deeper understanding of relational trauma and tools to enhance client support.
